It combines TrueVision® 3D visualization and guidance software focused on improving accuracy, efficiency and outcomes for both surgeons and patients.
Dr. Alan Franklin, an expert in diabetes related research and retinal diseases as well as an ophthalmologist who practices at Providence, performed the state’s first case in which the TrueVision® 3D Digital Microscope Platform was utilized for retina surgery.
Safe, Accurate and Efficient Retinal Surgery
The technology can be used for many types of eye procedures, including surgical treatment of diabetic retinopathy, the leading cause of new cases of blindness in adults. Diabetes causes changes in the blood vessels of the retina, the thin, light sensitive inner lining in the back of the eye leading to retinal damage termed diabetic retinopathy.
