September 24, 2014 Mobile, Alabama—The annual Baby Rest Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, October 19 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway. Registration for families begins at 1:30 p.m. This memorial service is open to all families who have suffered the loss of an infant before, during or after birth, as well as those who have loved and cared for them. Sponsored by Pine Crest Funeral Home and area hospitals, Baby Rest offers the community an opportunity to commemorate the infants who touched our lives in their brief time on earth. The service will include the reading of each infant’s name, the lighting of a candle of remembrance and a memory chest for families to place memorial items. A dove release is planned after the service.

National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day is a day of remembrance for pregnancy loss and infant death which includes but is not limited to miscarriage, stillbirth, SIDS or the death of a newborn. It is observed annually in the United States on October 15. The day is observed with remembrance ceremonies and candle-lighting vigils, concluding with the International Wave of Light, a worldwide lighting of candles at 7:00 p.m.
