Visiting Hours

Medical-Surgical and Maternity Units
Visiting hours are from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. After 10 p.m., visitors must enter through the Emergency Department’s waiting room to receive a visitor pass.

Intensive Care Units
Visiting hours in all Intensive Care Units are:
9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
12:30 – 1:30 p.m.
5:00 – 6:00 p.m.
8:30 – 9:30 p.m.

For patient safety reasons, no more than two persons may visit at one time in the Intensive Care Units.

Patients at Providence Hospital have the right to choose who may visit and/or provide support during a hospital stay. This may include a spouse, a domestic partner, another family member, or a friend, subject to certain clinical restrictions or safety limitations.

In the intensive care areas, visits by children should be coordinated with the patient’s health care team and are based on individual circumstances, such as the age of the child and the condition of the patient. In the other areas of the hospital, children are welcome to visit any time as long as they are accompanied by a responsible adult. Under no circumstances may children be left alone with a patient.

Visitor Guidelines

To help ensure the health, safety and comfort of our patients, we ask all visitors to follow these guidelines:

  • Visitors should always wash their hands or use the hand-sanitizing foam before entering and after leaving a patient room.
  • Visitors should not visit if they are ill, running a fever or have a known exposure to a communicable disease such as chicken pox or measles.
  • Visitors should limit or avoid the use of strong fragrances.
  • Flowers and balloons are not allowed in the Intensive Care or Coronary Care units. Live flowers, plants and fruit are not allowed on 12 East (rooms 1233 to 1248).


The hospital cafeteria is located on Level 1. Hours are:

  • Hot Breakfast: 6:30 – 9 a.m.
  • Continental Breakfast: 9 – 10 a.m.
  • Lunch: 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Grill: 11 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Dinner: 4:30 – 7 p.m.

The cafeteria also has vending machines with sandwiches, fruit and snack items. Candy and soda machines are located throughout the patient tower.

JAVA Good Day Coffee Shop, located on the first floor of the B building in the Providence Medical Office Plaza, offers specialty coffees and snacks. Coffee Shop hours are 7 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Gift Shop

The Providence Hospital Auxiliary operates a gift shop located in the hospital’s Main Lobby. The gift shop’s shelves are filled with jewelry, handbags, ladies apparel, assorted gifts and small necessities, baby items, balloons and fresh flowers. Proceeds from gift shop sales are donated to the hospital to fund various projects.


Monday – Friday: 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Saturday: 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Sunday: 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Phone orders are accepted and gifts can be delivered free within the hospital. Gift bags are available for purchase. When ordering, please keep in mind that gifts cannot be delivered to intensive care units, the emergency room or the recovery areas. To place a phone order, call (251) 266-1370.

Friends and family who are unable to visit the Providence Hospital gift shop in person can purchase a variety of items in our online gift shop. Our Online Gift Shop is available 24 hours a day. For assistance, call 877-887-3200.

Visitor Parking

A large, lighted parking area for visitors is provided free of charge. It is located on the west side of the hospital. A shuttle service is available by notifying Security in advance by calling (251) 266-1790.
Free valet parking is offered at the Providence Medical Office Plaza. The valet check-in is at Building A under the canopy and operated from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Wheelchairs are available.

Waiting Areas

The Main Surgery Waiting Room and Cardiology Waiting Room are located on the third floor of the Outpatient Center building. To reach them, use the bridge on Level 3. The Intensive Care Waiting Room is on Level 5, and the Cardiac Care Waiting Room is on Level 6.
