2018 Childbirth Education and Breastfeeding Classes
Thank you for trusting Providence Hospital for the delivery of your baby. We offer several childbirth preparation classes to help you prepare for this special experience.
Pre-registration is required for all classes. Registration fills up quickly, so please register early. We recommend that you register for your classes by your 24th week of pregnancy and complete the classes 4 to 6 weeks before your due date.
All classes are held in Conference Room 1 just off the main hospital lobby by the gift shop. Payment is made at the time of the class, cash (exact change) or check and covers mom and guest/coach.
Prepared Childbirth Class
This three-week series meets once a week on Tuesdays 6 – 8:30 p.m. Our childbirth classes are taught by experienced obstetrics nurses and will help prepare you and your partner for the birthing process. This class is perfect for first-time parents and includes a tour of the Louise Moorer Robinson Women’s Health Center. Cost: $25, includes Mom and one guest

Childbirth Class Express
This one-day course meets on Saturdays 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. It is a condensed version of the three-week Prepared Childbirth Class and is ideal for moms needing a refresher course in the delivery experience. This court is not suited for moms desiring a non-medicated delivery. Participants may bring a lunch or come prepared to purchase lunch during the break. Cost: $25, includes Mom and one guest

Newborn Care Class
This one-night class meets on Tuesdays, 6 – 8:30 p.m. and prepares new parents to care for a new baby from birth through the first weeks at home. This course is also ideas as a companion to our Prepared Childbirth Class or as a refresher for experienced parents. Cost: $25, includes Mom and one guest

Super Sibling Class
This fun and interactive Saturday morning class prepares soon-to-be siblings ages 3-10 for the arrival of a new baby in their family. The two-hour class meets on Saturdays, 10 a.m. – noon and includes a tour of the Louise Moorer Robinson Women’s Health Center. At least one parent or guardian is required to accompany new siblings during this class. Cost: $10 per child

This class teaches new parents and caregivers of newborns, infants and young children how to give CPR in an emergency. It is an orientation to CPR and is not a certification or credentialing course. Classes meet Tuesdays, 6 – 8 p.m. Pre-registration is required. Cost: $10 per person attending

Breastfeeding is an incredible gift to your baby! It provides countless health benefits for both Mom and Baby. While breastfeeding is natural, it is also a learned skill. Our lactation consultants are ready to assist and educate you throughout your breastfeeding journey. Our FREE breastfeeding course will help prepare you and your partner for successful breastfeeding and address common concerns mothers may have. Two options are available for the class – Monday evenings and Saturday mornings.
*Two classes remain for 2017 on November 27 and December 11, 6:30-9 p.m.

We recommend that mothers-to-be register for childbirth classes by the 28th week of pregnancy and complete classes by the 37th week.
Class dates are subject to change or cancellation in the case of minimal registration or instructor availability.
Your registration confirmation will include the location of your class. You may also verify the location with the Information Desk in the main hospital lobby when you arrive for your class.
The cost for each class, except Infant CPR and Super Siblings, includes Mom and one guest. The class fee will be collected when you arrive for class. Please pay with cash or check made payable to Providence Hospital. If paying with cash, please bring exact change. We cannot accept credit cards or debit cards.
