The Comprehensive Breast Care Center at Providence is a state-of-the art facility staffed by breast cancer experts from a variety of medical specialties who are dedicated to the detection and treatment of breast cancer. The Breast Center offers screening and diagnostic 3D mammography, breast ultrasound, stereotactic needle biopsy and ultrasound-guided biopsy.
Providence is one of the first hospitals in Mobile to routinely use ImageCheckerTM computer-assisted diagnostic technology for all screening mammograms. With this technology, X-ray pictures are converted to digital images and electronically scanned to detect and highlight any areas of abnormality for further medical review. Research has shown that ImageChecker can result in fewer false-negative readings and significantly earlier detection of breast cancers—and earlier detection means better outcomes.
