Heart & Vascular
Providence Hospital is the right choice for comprehensive cardiac care. We are the regional leader in open heart surgeries, performing more procedures than any other hospital in the area five of the last six years. Our medical staff features 34 cardiologists and 14 cardiovascular surgeons, and Providence’s affiliated primary care physician network offers nearly 50 physicians and mid-level providers in locations throughout greater Mobile.
Chest Pain Center
Providence introduced Mobile to the concept of early heart attack care in a dedicated Chest Pain Emergency Center. Our five-bay facility is designed to offer rapid diagnosis and treatment to patients with chest pain.
More than 60 percent of all heart attack victims have the early warning signs of a pending attack hours, even days, before the actual attack occurs. If you or a loved one are experiencing chest pain symptoms, please do not ignore them. The sooner the treatment begins the better chance you will have of a full recovery. And if it’s a false alarm, won’t you feel better knowing everything is OK?
The Chest Pain Emergency Center is open twenty-four hours a day, every day, and is accessed through the Emergency Department entrance.
Heart and Vascular Diagnosis and Treatment
Providence offers a full range of diagnostic and treatment services for heart conditions. These include three-dimensional color echocardiography (ultrasound of the heart), four cardiac catheterization laboratories, our dedicated electrophysiology suite where specially-trained physicians address the heart’s electrical system and two dedicated open-heart surgery suites. We perform nearly 500 open heart surgery procedures per year, more than any other hospital in the region.
Located in the Providence Rehabilitation and Wellness Center, on the west side of the hospital campus, Providence Hospitals’ cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program provides medically-supervised exercise and nutrition training to patients who have been through a cardiac event.
Heart Failure Clinic
Providence Hospital’s innovative Heart Failure Clinic has been awarded GOLD status for its participation in the American Heart Association’s GET WITH THE GUIDELINES – HEART FAILURE (GWTG-HF) program. This award recognizes facilities that achieve at least two years of 85 percent or higher adherence to the GWTG program quality indicator—measures that are demonstrated to improve the quality of patient care and outcomes.
The Heart Failure Clinic at Providence is located in Suite B-221 of the Providence Medical Office Plaza (second floor of the B building, directly above the Outpatient check-in desk) and is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For more information about Providence’s Heart Failure Clinic, please call (251)-631-3553.
