Blue Distinction

Providence Spine Services

Studies show that as many as 8 out of 10 Americans experience back pain at some point during their lifetime. If you or a loved one are experiencing any form of back or neck discomfort, please contact one of our Providence Hospital Spine physicians below for an evaluation. Our Spine Program is the only certified Blue Distinction for Spine Surgery program in the Southwest Alabama / South Mississippi region.

Blue Distinction Center for Spine Surgery

Blue Distinction Centers for Spine Surgery® have demonstrated their commitment to quality care, resulting in better overall outcomes for spine surgery patients. Each Blue Distinction® facility meets objective clinical measures that are developed with input from expert physicians’ and medical organizations’ recommendations.

Advanced Technology

Providence offers the region’s only High Field Open MRI. This next-generation MRI technology offers the patient the greatest amount of comfort, especially for those with claustrophobic concerns, along with more scanning capabilities and superior image quality. A traditional Open MRI fails to provide this type of flexibility and overall quality.

Providence’s Trilogy system allows clinicians to offer non-surgical treatment of tumors on the spine–an area notoriously difficult to treat due to the proximity to the spinal cord.

DISCLAIMER: Blue Distinction Centers (BDC) met overall quality measures for patient safety and outcomes, developed with input from the medical community. A Local Blue Plan may require additional criteria for facilities located in its own service area; for details, contact your Local Blue Plan. Blue Distinction Centers+ (BDC+) also met cost measures that address consumers’ need for affordable healthcare. Each facility’s cost of care is evaluated using data from its Local Blue Plan. Facilities in CA, ID, NY, PA, and WA may lie in two Local Blue Plans’ areas, resulting in two evaluations for cost of care; and their own Local Blue Plans decide whether one or both cost of care evaluation(s) must meet BDC+ national criteria. National criteria for BDC and BDC+ are displayed on www.bcbs.com. Individual outcomes may vary. For details on a provider’s in-network status or your own policy’s coverage, contact your Local Blue Plan and ask your provider before making an appointment.
