Education is available to people with diabetes who are considering an insulin pump or a continuous glucose monitor (CGM), or who have one and need further assistance.
Services provided include:
Pre-pump education to learn the basics of pump therapy, discuss the pros and cons of insulin pumps to see if this is the right option for you, and review advanced carbohydrate counting in order to determine insulin doses with a carbohydrate/insulin ratio.
Pump training to learn basic “button-pushing” techniques, and to set basal and bolus insulin doses for your unique needs, blood sugars and lifestyle. Education is also available to update you to a newer insulin pump model.
Follow-up training to assist you with fine-tuning basal and bolus insulin doses to achieve target blood glucose ranges, as well as additional carbohydrate education on special foods you enjoy.
Continuous glucose monitor (CGM) to develop an understanding of the CGM system, the use of the system, and how to apply the information to improve blood sugar control.
